Lake/Pond Fish Feeders & Artificial Structures

After proper water quality has been established, food and habitat are the next two critical items to raise healthy fish. Many ponds lack necessary fish habitats such as stumps, fallen trees, and ledges which provide shade and cover to predator and prey species. Also, the natural forage provided to these prey species such as bluegill, shad, and golden shiners may not be enough to maximize their growth and reproduction rates. Pond fish feeders and artificial structures are the best ways to reverse this environment.

Benefits of Supplemental Food and Habitat

Pond Fish Feeders

Structure is a key component to any sportfish pond by providing shelter to forage species and ambush points to predators. Shade found under structure also maintains cooler water temperatures during the heat of the year. Most importantly, these points concentrate fish in areas where they may be more easily caught by anglers.

Supplemental food for bluegill, shad, and golden shiners boost growth and reproductive rates. Consistent feeding is the key, and may be effectively supplied using a pelletized food in conjunction with automatic feeders.

How We Can Help

Pond Fish Feeders

To add additional structure, we carry a full line of Mossback Fish Habitats that may be placed in the pond at any time.  To consistently supply supplemental feed, we recommend Texas Hunter fish feeders because of their rugged construction and dependability. One feeder should be installed per every 5 acres and set to feed a floating food twice a day during warm temperatures. Purchase and installation on the feeders and structures is available.
